The University of Southern California's Viterbi Magazine put together a "mystery issue" to show the power of engineering to solve many problems that have long vexed humanity. We also wanted to spotlight some of the mysteries our own researchers are trying to unravel with engineering. As always, we had a mix of illustrated stories, first-rate photography, and engaging writing to capture our readers' attention. We also embedded four mystery games in the issue and invited our readers to solve them. Nearly 500 of them attempted to do so, although nobody solved the puzzle.

It's smart, fun, and persuasive, with a beautiful design that ties everything together. The publication incorporates various lists, numbers, and photography and writing styles, showcasing a clear cohesiveness that makes it a joy to read.
