Diane M. Lowder
Diane Lowder has served as Randolph Macon College’s Vice President for College Advancement since February 2007.
A native of Hopewell, Virginia, Diane earned undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Richmond in 1984 and 1987, respectively. In 2002, she was inducted into the University of Richmond Athletics Hall of Fame (swimming). Diane practiced law for nine years with the Richmond, Virginia firm of McGuireWoods, where she concentrated in estate planning and administration.
In 1997, she began her career in higher education at the University of Richmond, where she served as Director of Planned Giving and Interim Director of Development. While at UR, contributions under her leadership increased by $30 million in new planned gifts, and the university received an additional $20 million in estate distributions.
Diane currently oversees Randolph-Macon’s Office of College Advancement which includes the offices of Development and Alumni Relations. She serves as the Chief Development Officer for the College and led its most recent capital campaign, Building Extraordinary, which exceeded $125 million. During her tenure, private support of Randolph-Macon has reached an all-time high, and since 2016, the College has consistently ranked in the top 25 among all colleges and universities in alumni giving participation.
Outside of Randolph-Macon, Diane serves as the Chairman of the Board of TriCities Hospital in Hopewell, Virginia, and also serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Gift Planning Council. She has previously served as a member of the University of Richmond Spider Club Board, the Virginia High School League Foundation Advisory Board, and the Patrons Committee of the James River Ball supporting the Arts for public school systems.
