Mark R. Shenkman
Mark Shenkman has served the Wilbraham & Monson Academy for 50 years, having been elected an Alumni Trustee of Monson in 1970, before a merger with Wilbraham Academy. He has served on every Board committee at least once, and been a leader through philanthropy. He is a founding member of the academy’s planned giving society, and has issued numerous challenges to inspire alumni and parents to give.
One nominator wrote, “Mark Shenkman is a devoted and utterly selfless advocate of education; a leader whose 50 years of service to Wilbraham & Monson Academy and other institutions represents a desire to leave the world a better place by positively impacting the young people who will lead it.”
The Seymour Preston Award is presented annually to a school trustee who has exhibited exceptional commitment and leadership in developing voluntary support for his or her institution.
This award pays tribute to Seymour Preston, a long-time trustee of the Lawrenceville School and the first recipient of the award.
