Meet the Chair
Emily M. Rankin
Emily M. Rankin is the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development at the University of California, Riverside. Emily joined the UCR Advancement team in 2017 and recently helped to successfully close the university’s first comprehensive campaign, surpassing the $300m goal, in December 2020. In her role, Emily is charged with overseeing the fundraising teams for seven of the university’s colleges and schools in addition to serving on the Advisory Committee on Campus Art. Emily is managing the first campus public art exhibition of all women sculptors which will open Summer 2021.
Emily sits on the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District VII Cabinet as Chair-elect. She has been a member of eight CASE District VII Conference Committees including Alumni Track Co-chair in 2007 and Chair in 2008.
Emily’s career spans more than two decades in higher education and non-profit management at institutions including Scripps College, University of San Diego, Whittier College, Opera Pacific, and the Byrd Hoffman Foundation. Emily is an alumna of Scripps College and Claremont Graduate University’s Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management where she continues to be a loyal donor and avid volunteer.

Monika Moore
Monika Moore is the Director of Alumni and Family Engagement at Pomona College. Previously she served as the director of donor relations and stewardship at Scripps College in Claremont, CA. A graduate of Pomona College and Claremont Graduate University, she held key alumni relations positions at both of those institutions, as well as leading alumni and parent engagement efforts at the University of La Verne and Occidental College. Monika is an active advancement and engagement consultant, having conducted external program reviews for several institutions. She is the convener of the Southern California Independent College Alumni Professionals (SCICAP) since 2019 and is a CASE volunteer, co-chairing the Alumni Relations track for the 2022 and 2023 District VII Conferences and serving on the CASE Commission on Alumni Relations from 2017-2020. She served as a faculty member for the 2022 and 2023 Donor Relations Conference.
Sandra Yates
Sandra “Sandy” Yates is a fundraising professional with more than twenty-five years of experience, most of which was gained in higher education.
Yates entered the development profession at Wesley College as alumni relations secretary. There she learned the intricacies of database, phone-a-thon and reunion management before joining The Nature Conservancy Delaware Chapter. At The Nature Conservancy, Yates was responsible for membership renewal, new member welcome, restricted budget management and participated in her first capital campaign. The Arthritis Foundation offered Yates her first management experience in fundraising. During that tenure, she was introduced to events management, planned giving, and volunteer management.
Yates honed her individual solicitation and stewardship skills at Swarthmore College. She has built and supervised teams from leadership roles at Lincoln University, the ITC, Spelman College, and Morehouse College where she currently supervises Advancement Services and Prospect Research during their historic $500 million Capital Campaign.
Yates has received honors from Ft. Sill Army Base for exemplary performance to the Department of Logistics; Dover Air Force Base, for commitment to the community; The NAACP for long-term dedication. She has also served as a Diversity Mentor for the Atlanta Chapter of the AFP. Yates is a founding member of F3 “Fabulous Female Fundraisers.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Wesley College in Dover Delaware and is honorably discharged for United State Air Force. She is married to the Rev. James A. Platt. They are the proud parents of 6 sons and four grandchildren.

Reshunda L. Mahone
Reshunda Mahone, Ed.D., CFRE, is the Assistant Dean for Advancement and Alumni Engagement with the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. With over 21 years of higher education advancement and development experience, she has supported every aspect of philanthropy and engagement. She has previously held fundraising roles at Virginia State University, Spelman College, the University of Miami, Georgia State University, the University of Central Florida, and the University of Florida. She has expertise in campaign fundraising, data analytics, maximizing advancement operations, and leadership development. Her research focuses on leadership development for women and advancing minority-serving institutions through advancement.
As an active member of the Council for the Advancement & Support of Education (CASE), she serves on the Commission on Philanthropy, the Minority Serving Institution Advisory Board, and the District III Board, with roles leading the Opportunity & Inclusion task force and HBCU fundraising. She also serves on the African American Development Officers (AADO) Network board and previously served on the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) boards for the Central Virginia, Greater Atlanta, and the Miami chapters. Dr. Mahone earned an Ed.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University, an MBA from the University of Central Florida, a B.S. in Decision and Information Sciences from the University of Florida and is a Certified Fundraising Executive.
