The Power of Pitching
If you're like me, you have 22 magazine, web, and social media content suggestions, no staff writer, no video producer, and no graphic designer — and VPs, deans, and program heads asking, "What have you done for me lately?" That's where I found the Power of Pitching can turn your frown emoji into a smiling one. Using the power of story pitching, I'll show you how to select and prioritize the best content to tell your organization's story in a way that resonates with your brand. Bonus: Your VPs, deans, and programs heads will love you.

Building a Meaningful Stewardship Program for Transformational Donors
As Berkeley launched our $6 billion campaign, we understood that to be truly successful, we needed to think about stewardship in new ways. We took this opportunity to reimagine our approach to Berkeley’s most important 10-15 principal gift level donors and families. The goal of our program is to reflect the institutional impact of these transformational donors in ways that are meaningful and personal. Whether you are hoping to build a custom program, or want to learn more about principal gift stewardship, you will hear insights on how to sustain donor relationships long after the close of your campaign.

Fundraising Beyond Borders
This case-study presentation shares how we aligned a non-profit's mission and vision to the Rady School of Management Dean's vision of strengthening our students, alumni, and faculty knowledge and relationship with other entrepreneurs in our region, mainly across Mexico. Our location as a research Business School in San Diego is strategic in building bridges to innovate and integrate our cities. The Border Innovation Challenge was born as a business plan competition, supported by top leaders from both sides of the border, to find solutions to make our legal border crossings and trade safer and more effective.

Representation Matters: Creating an Intentional DEI Advancement Plan
Cal State East Bay is #1 in greatest racial and ethnic diversity in the West, according to US News & World Report (2021), with an increasingly diverse alumni base. 2020’s racial reckoning prompted Advancement to do better and be better in service to ourselves, students and alumni. We’ll share our journey from assessing our starting point; our path towards change that blended education, personal reflection, and analysis - as well as our thinking as we navigated those approaches - and the steps each of our teams (Alumni Relations, Communications, Development) developed in a lively process that involved every team member.
