Leading organisational readiness for change
Leading organisations and teams through change can be challenging, particularly whilst managing our daily work. Over the last 18 months the world and higher education has faced disruption from COVID and challenge to change through the Black Lives Matters movement. Now, the Government’s Spending Review will be driving even more change in our institutions. How do we manage multiple change programmes and support our teams? How can we be ready to manage expected or unexpected change in the future?
Professor Nishan Canagarajah, Vice-Chancellor from the University of Leicester,
Will talk about driving diversity and inclusion change at Leicester and in the sector. As well as reflecting on how COVID has changed their way of working, including new Central Professional Services workspaces. He will talk about how he has worked with his team to implement change and how they are prepared for future change.
Rachel Sandison, Vice-Principal, External Relations, University of Glasgow
Joins us to share the experience of the University of Glasgow in setting out and implementing its comprehensive action plan to tackle racism and racial harassment on campus as part of its effort to address racial inequality. What drove the plan from the outset? How the team worked across the institution to identify the actions. Now, how they are implementing the changes.
Dr Alexis Brown, Director of Policy & Advocacy, HEPI
With the sector facing a host of challenges and opportunities – from the continuing effects of COVID, to changes in student finance, to conducting research in a quickly shifting international environment. HEPI is an independent voice in the sector, well-placed to promote rigorous debate and leadership on these issues. With the government’s spending review published on 27th October, what does this mean for our institutions now?
