3:15 PM - 4:15 PM CT
Speaker(s): Ben Fiore-Walker, Sr. Director of the Opportunity and Inclusion Center, Council for Advancement and Support of Education, Edgar Gonzalez, Vice President for University Development, Seattle University
Plenary
As much as we need our employers to care about people, and us, we must also realize that it’s a business. Businesses have to run and have to be governed. This session will focus on the context of higher education as a business run by human beings and how we can understand it, navigate it, and succeed in it. It will also focus on governance boards, their makeup, their decision making and our role as influencers rather than decision makers in that space. Come prepared with an open mind about the business and examples of your experiences with it for discussion.
