Conference Chair
Shari Fox
Shari Fox joined the University of Illinois Foundation in July 2014 and has senior responsibility for the principal gifts and gift planning programs across the three universities comprising the University of Illinois System. She also coordinates the University of Illinois System President's advancement activities.
Prior to joining the University of Illinois, she was assistant vice president for development at the University of Michigan, where she had senior responsibility for the Office of Gift Planning, Stewardship and Donor Relations, the faculty and staff campaign, and several constituent fundraising programs. She previously served as director of gift planning with the University of Cincinnati Foundation and began her career in banking and trust administration.
Fox is a past chair and former board member of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners and a past president of the Greater Cincinnati Planned Giving Council. She has served on the faculty of the Planned Giving Institute at University of Richmond and on the Editorial Advisory Board for the monthly newsletter Planned Giving Today. She is also a fellow of the Advancement Leadership Academy.
She received her bachelor's degree in business administration with a major in finance from Miami University and her master's degree in business administration with a concentration in management from Xavier University.

Steve Clark
Steve Clark serves as the assistant vice president for gift planning at Virginia Tech, providing leadership to its gift planning effort and supporting its principal gift team. He has over 25 years of advancement experience, having previously served as Assistant Vice Chancellor for University Development at North Carolina State University as well as several gift planning positions at Virginia Tech.
Before his career in advancement, Steve practiced law with firms in Richmond and Abingdon, Virginia, and earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Virginia. He is a former member of the board of directors of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners and currently is a member of the CGP Leadership Institute.
Chris Yates
Chris joined the College of Engineering at the Ohio State University as Chief Advancement and Economic Development Officer in January 2017. In this role he oversees all activities relating to development, alumni relations, and communications for the College.
Previously he was Director of Advancement at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from July 2014 through December 2016. During his tenure at LSE the School set significant new fundraising records in total philanthropic giving for two years in a row, including receipt of the two largest gifts in its history, the largest gift ever received from an alumnus, and consecutive new records for giving to the LSE Annual Fund. Chris came to LSE from the University of Southern California (USC) where he served as Associate Senior Vice President for Major and Planned Gifts from 2011-2014. Prior to USC, he worked at Stanford University for a total of 17 years, serving as Director of Planned Giving from 2003 to 2011 and as Associate Director from 1992 to 1998. Chris also spent five years at Caltech (1998-2003) as Director of Gift Planning. He got his start in higher education as Associate Director for undergraduate admission at Stanford (1989-92).
