‘Leveraging Philanthropy to Support Your Vision’ for Heads of Schools, Board Members, CFOs, and Business Managers
Following the pandemic, we have entered a new phase in education. It is vital for school leadership and fundraising (advancement and development) teams to work together to meet the changing needs of our stakeholders. Simultaneously, funding in the education sector continues to change significantly so schools are strengthening their capability in fundraising, with philanthropy campaigns focused on growing endowments, bursaries, and scholarships, and delivering on capital works. To this end the spotlight is increasingly focused on leadership involvement in community engagement, fundraising, greater governance, data analytics and technology supported decision making.
Important Note: This will run concurrently with the Schools Conference, Road Map to Advancement, and Deep Dive into Data Management on 16 May 2023.

Session 1: Anatomy of a Successful Donor Visit
We often think of a solicitation as a singular event, a meeting where we "ask for the order." In fact, it is more than just a transactional visit and when done right it should ensure success at every stage of the solicitation process. Strategic and generative conversations are at the heart of our work to transform lives and society. Questioning and listening are powerful life skills and will help you create productive donor relationships. Learn about the five stages of the solicitation process, how to develop questions instead of talking points that will inform your gift strategy, advance relationships, and result in a joyful, generous "Yes" to your request.

Session 2: Artful Ask Workshop
For many, the idea of making a philanthropic ask for support is the most daunting aspect of our roles. The truth is, with preparation and practice, your confidence and comfort will increase dramatically. In a series of role plays, we will consider not only the sort of preparation required to ensure your meeting is fruitful and enjoyable, but also what a conversation during an actual visit might sound like. One hour on this workshop’s stage and you’ll be ready for your close-up. Guaranteed!
