10:00 – 10:10 Rising to the Challenge: Becoming catalysts for connection in crises
Given the situation facing our world at this time, there are many uncertainties for our institutions; one of which being the challenge of knowing what to expect in terms of admissions/recruitment conversion rates.
In response to a clear articulation of priorities from our University's President, we worked in consultation with UCD Global and Student Recruitment colleagues to identify and address genuine needs that have become more acute during this time of crisis.
Inspired by the ‘Working with Volunteers’ conference back in February, the Global Alumni Ambassador programme was developed. This fast tracked programme connects young alumni around the world with international offer holders is one of a number of initiatives that we are working on to meet emerging needs for our university colleagues at this time.
We look forward to sharing this focused example of how we've approached broadening alumni volunteer engagement in a time of crisis.

11:15 – 11:25 Don’t forget the Class of 2020!
Coronavirus has thrown a curveball at most of us – but for the Class of 2020 it has changed everything about how they thought their next steps would progress. How can you change your current programme to support the graduating class? What things could be made virtual and expanded out to the Class of 2020, recent graduates and students progressing into their final year? How can you work closely both within your department and with your Careers team to support the next steps for this group – and involve some pretty amazing alumni who are now more comfortable volunteering virtually.

12:30 – 12:40 Sustaining and Building Momentum
The recent pandemic has certainly brought incredible creativity and innovation to the suite of volunteering opportunities available to alumni, especially online. How can alumni relations professionals sustain this momentum? How can alumni be directly involved to build momentum for the online (and hopefully in-person) alumni volunteering of the future? This session is a culmination of the learning at the conference, a time to consider the ideas collected from the session and to consider “3-Rs” for alumni volunteering (hint: it is beyond role, retention and recognition!).
