4 Daily Strategies for a Happier Workplace
By Ileana Ruiz
Research proves happy employees are productive employees. How do you foster a positive workplace culture?
There is no magic formula, writes executive coach Marcel Schwantes in a recent Inc. article. “What actually works is not so simple,” he explains. “It's for leaders to shift their mindset and change beliefs around how they see and treat their employees. When leaders begin to hold human beings at work with the utmost regard, they begin to see them through a new lens and value them differently.”
Here are four strategies Schwantes recommends that will foster a culture of high performers where people feel valued, respected, and encouraged :
- Get feedback on what they value. Evaluate high performers and listen to their ideas to identify shared values and markers that can build a solid organizational culture.
- Hire on what they value. Observe the abilities and behaviors of high performers and look for similar attributes when interviewing candidates.
- Open communication channels. Constantly check your high performers who desire feedback and coach them to keep developing their talents.
- Emphasize praise and recognition. Use regular recognition and praise as a motivational tool for organizational commitment.
