CASE Announces New VP for Membership, Marketing, and Communications Jane Chafer
The Council for Advancement and Support of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Jane Chafer as the new Vice President of its Membership, Marketing and Communications division.
In her role at CASE, Chafer will be a member of the Executive Leadership Team and will lead a new, dynamic global division which manages CASE’s brand and reputation, drives membership growth and engagement, and coordinates a range of campaigns and channels.
“I am thrilled to welcome Jane Chafer to CASE,” says Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Terry Flannery. “She is a seasoned higher education marketing and communication professional with 20+ years of global experience in all the advancement disciplines. I know Jane will bring her collaborative, values-driven, and global perspective to this important role for CASE as we move toward implementing the goals of the strategic plan, Championing Advancement.”
Chafer is currently serving as the Executive Divisional Director, External Engagement and Global, at the University of Exeter, overseeing the advancement functions of fundraising, alumni relations, marketing, brand, digital, and global student recruitment and partnerships. There she was instrumental in developing the university’s brand position and aligning it to the 2030 strategic plan, as well as delivering a market-led approach to student recruitment that saw a significant uplift in student enrollments in 2021. Her colleagues describe her as instrumental in elevating the reputation of her institution. She was similarly influential in roles at Plymouth University and the University of Sheffield, also in the UK.
She also currently serves as the first female non-executive director on the Board for the Plymouth Argyle Football Club, a professional League One football club, where she has responsibility for building diversity and inclusion within the club.
“CASE has been part of my life in higher education since the very beginning and has given me guidance, inspiration and support throughout my career,” Chafer says. “The opportunity to give something back to this important organization and globally significant community by using my skills and experience is exciting and humbling and I can’t wait to start the new role. The future of CASE is very bright, and it will be an honor to be part of that journey.”
Chafer will officially assume her new role as Vice President for Membership, Marketing, and Communications on Nov. 14, 2022.
