CASE Statement on the Charitable Act
CASE President and CEO Sue Cunningham issued the following statement on the introduction of the Charitable Act, bipartisan U.S. legislation that would restore and expand the charitable deduction for Americans who do not itemize their tax returns.
"We applaud Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Chris Coons (D-DE), for their introduction of the Charitable Act, legislation that will encourage all taxpayers, regardless of income, to make charitable donations to schools, colleges, and universities across the country. When donors give more, educational institutions can offer greater opportunity and access to students who will be our future leaders; conduct life transforming and saving research that benefits us all; and enhance society through public service programs and community engagement,” CASE President and CEO Sue Cunningham said.
“As the most recent results of the CASE Voluntary Support of Education Survey demonstrate, donors understand the integral role that schools, colleges, and universities play in enhancing communities and improving society. Restoring and expanding this important charitable giving incentive will empower our member institutions to better achieve their teaching, research, and service missions in partnership with donors. We strongly support the Charitable Act and look forward to working with lawmakers to seek its passage,” said Cunningham.
