CASE Welcomes New Vice President, Education
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Council for Advancement and Support of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Martin as the new Vice President of its Educational Programs division.
In his role at CASE, Martin will be a member of the Executive Leadership Team and will lead a dynamic global division to which is responsible for the creation and delivery of learning, networking, and professional development for CASE members, both at conferences and online.
“I am thrilled to welcome Stephen Martin to CASE,” says Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Terry Flannery. “He is a seasoned association professional with 30+ years of experience in professional training and development organizations. As CASE continues to leverage our robust learnings offerings, Stephen’s skills and experience will be essential to our future success as an association.”
Most recently, Martin was the Managing Director, Professional Development and Resources at the American Institute of Architects, a role he has held since 2014. There, he implemented a comprehensive member learning strategy to strengthen member value and retention, while integrating learning across delivery channels, including conferences, online learning platforms, and knowledge communities. His background in information technology, instructional design, and conference planning enabled him to double program revenue over 10 years, while also reducing expenses. The AIA’s award-winning online learning platform has grown to deliver more than 300 programs annually.

With my background in developing and delivering in-person and online education, I’m excited to work with a great team to bring fresh ideas to the table and create opportunities that help CASE’s members thrive globally.”
Martin holds a bachelor's degree in international relations from Roanoke College; studied instructional systems design at George Mason’s Graduate School of Education; will soon complete an Executive MBA from the Quantic School of Business and Technology; is a Certified Association Executive; and also earned certificates in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Digital Events Strategy.
Martin officially assumed his new role as Vice President for Education Programs on Aug. 1, 2024.
