CCAN: In Brief
Brenda Henderson Awarded CRD Legacy Scholarship
CASE is pleased to announce that Brenda Henderson is a recipient of the Council for Resource Development Legacy Scholarship to be applied to the CASE Seminar Series for Community College Grant Professionals. Henderson is a grant resources specialist at Southern University at Shreveport, a junior college in Louisiana.
“I do the work that I do because it takes financial resources to support building a village that focuses on building a strong, educated, social justice-driven, inclusive, academic, and workforce-driven system. I believe that opportunity, coupled with resources, can create generational career pathways,” Henderson says. “The work that I do enables me to be a vehicle of trust and to be a facilitator for life-changing endeavors.”
As a CRD Legacy Scholarship recipient, Henderson is awarded $250 to offset registration fees for the CASE conference.
Federal Funding Task Force Continues Work Online
Congratulations to the 2020 Federal Funding Task Force for upholding CASE’s annual tradition—even in this most challenging year—of meeting with federal agency program officers to discuss anticipated funding levels and program priorities, update agency contacts, and research comparison data on funds applied for and grants awarded in previous funding cycles.
Led once again this year by Michelle Alexander, director of institutional advancement at Vernon College and executive director of the Vernon College Foundation, the 2020 task force embraced a completely different approach to its valuable work as it transformed in-person visits to online meetings.
