Brenda Henderson Awarded CRD Legacy Scholarship

    Brenda Henderson

CASE is pleased to announce that Brenda Henderson is a recipient of the Council for Resource Development Legacy Scholarship to be applied to the CASE Seminar Series for Community College Grant Professionals. Henderson is a grant resources specialist at Southern University at Shreveport, a junior college in Louisiana.

“I do the work that I do because it takes financial resources to support building a village that focuses on building a strong, educated, social justice-driven, inclusive, academic, and workforce-driven system. I believe that opportunity, coupled with resources, can create generational career pathways,” Henderson says. “The work that I do enables me to be a vehicle of trust and to be a facilitator for life-changing endeavors.”

As a CRD Legacy Scholarship recipient, Henderson is awarded $250 to offset registration fees for the CASE conference.

Federal Funding Task Force Continues Work Online

Congratulations to the 2020 Federal Funding Task Force for upholding CASE’s annual tradition—even in this most challenging year—of meeting with federal agency program officers to discuss anticipated funding levels and program priorities, update agency contacts, and research comparison data on funds applied for and grants awarded in previous funding cycles.

Led once again this year by Michelle Alexander, director of institutional advancement at Vernon College and executive director of the Vernon College Foundation, the 2020 task force embraced a completely different approach to its valuable work as it transformed in-person visits to online meetings.

Special thanks to the FFTF 2020 Leadership Team and Federal Agency Liaison subcommittee members below for their creativity and tenacity in reimagining this work in a virtual environment:

The full findings of the task force can be found in the CASE Federal Funding Report for Education.

Note: Although access to the report is a free benefit of CASE membership, members need to register and set up an account separate from their CASE accounts. If you have any questions about accessing the report, please email Marc Westenburg, CASE’s director of foundations and community colleges, at mwestenburg@case.org.

On behalf of CASE, thank you to all those who served on this year’s Federal Funding Task Force. If you would like to learn more about the task force or volunteer for the 2021 Federal Funding Task Force, please email mwestenburg@case.org.
