What can you expect at CEAC 2023? Hear from Planning Committee Chair Valerie Boulet, Director of Development and Alumni Relations, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
You’ve been a longtime CASE volunteer. Why is that important to you?
CASE creates an extended family, network, and team of peers across the globe. It’s the place I go to for best practices. It’s important to me because I don’t want to do my work in a bubble. There’s also an inspiration component to being a CASE member. Behind the nuts and bolts of our success is inspiration and passion, and we fuel that by networking with colleagues globally. We encourage, share, and inspire one another. It’s so helpful to see different approaches to the challenges we face as a profession.
And that’s why I love CEAC. We come together and share our differences and at the same time we experience the joy of being aligned with a common mission and values. Participating actively in this community is quite powerful and quite joyful.
What have you enjoyed about chairing the conference planning committee?
So many things, but I have to say working with this amazing group is top of the list. Our committee members are truly dedicated. They come together to thoughtfully identify the needs for our sector and ensure valuable programming for professionals with all levels of experience and representing every part of advancement. And they bring it all together in a cohesive way so that there are no silos.
What can attendees look forward to?
Rich, insightful sessions that address the needs of the day, especially as we navigate and reimagine the post-pandemic landscape. We all know that the pandemic has changed fundraising. We are now more digital in nature but at the same time people want to be connected. The sessions we have planned will directly address the challenges of today. The content is rich, diverse, and designed to send our attendees home energized with solutions and ideas they can implement at their own institutions.
And beyond the programming, the networking opportunities are invaluable. It is so exciting to be in person. Advancement professionals are social, collaborative, and so willing to share. CEAC feels like a celebration. I promise you will leave inspired, motivated, humbled, and with many new colleagues to join your professional network.
