The State of Race and Policing in America Series
About the entry
Given recent events regarding police and race in America, the Race and Policing Lecture Series was organized to promote a community-wide dialogue between researchers, law enforcement, and citizens. The series engaged students, faculty, and the broader public through dialog examining tensions between communities of color and law enforcement, race and community engagement efforts by local police departments, research on criminal justice and policing, and immigration enforcement at the local level.
From the Judges' Report
This is the type of programming that makes the judges proud to be a part of this community. It is more important than ever for schools and institutions to be facilitating difficult conversations about today's social and political events. A&M did this with class, and in a timely manner that served their community.
