2017 Inclusive Leaders Academy Launch and Closing

According to Georgia Tech's 2012 Climate Assessment Survey data from facilitation of community conversations, some staff expressed feelings of marginalization by gender, race and ethnicity, and a desire for targeted professional, career and leadership development opportunities. As such, the university launched the Inclusive Leaders Academy, a professional leadership and legacy development program for managers at Georgia Tech. The goal of the program is twofold: to support managers' career development by creating opportunities to learn and grow, and to build a leadership community that will transform the university's culture by modeling inclusive excellence.

Having and analyzing data is important for any new initiative that an organization undertakes, and we were impressed how GA Tech used a 2012 campus climate survey as the basis for this project. Diversity and inclusion work is everyone’s responsibility, and by creating culture champions GA Tech is able to develop competent leaders on their campus and in the community. We would be interested in the how the institution is taking the next step – how are they creating leaders in the greater community. Maybe using your alumni is the way…
