Columns Magazine at the University of Washington
About the entry
The goal of this website is to be polished and direct, but also entertaining and intriguing. It's designed to be a visual-first experience, with an emphasis on visual diversity. By including a variety of image formats-portrait photography, photo-illustrations, graphic illustrations, etc.—the aim is to catch the reader's eye and hold their attention. The same goes for the print-to-web pipeline. Rather than simply pasting the print content onto the web page, the university takes great care in designing each online story in a way that makes it readable, accessible and responsive on all devices.
From the Judges' Report
Judges though this digital magazine had a very nice home page and had great use of visuals. They site also made great use of space and provided plenty of white space to let the copy and visuals stand out.
