Ignite is FIU's Faculty & Staff fundraising campaign. The first and foremost goal of the program is to strengthen and build our community. FIU encourages faculty & staff to create projects that they believe respond to needs of our community and we employ a strategy of donor-directed giving where each individual can direct their gift to the project or fund of their choice. They stress participation (no gift is too small) and although they have been financially successful, they celebrate participation because it opens the door to everyone to make a donation. All donors receive a distinctive annual pin, which has become a revered symbol of our community culture.

The Commission was impressed by the campaigns goal and purpose and how it was executed throughout. Another point of emphasis for judges was the manner in which FIU engaged its volunteers and as a result strengthened the community.
