The Harper College Educational Foundation created a comprehensive scholarship recipient engagement plan to collect content and engage scholarship recipients as ambassadors of the Educational Foundation. Their plan was to create Scholarship Orientations, invite scholarship recipients to be Scholarship Ambassadors, engage Scholarship Ambassadors by personally inviting them to donor recognition events and introducing them to donors, capture first-person stories and photos for a Realizing Dreams donor recognition book, facilitate students in the design of stewardship materials, and highlight a successful scholarship recipient graduation story with a graduation card to donors. By planning and executing Scholarship Orientations, scholarship recipients learned about the work and responsibilities of the Educational Foundation, and the joy of philanthropy for students and donors.

Judges’ enjoyed the meaning and the connection made with its target audience exhibited in this campaign. Similarly, all the judges’ agreed that this campaign did an excellent job in establishing connections between students and donors. Though the program was not as comprehensive as other submissions, judges all agreed that it was a very heartfelt way to have scholarship recipients thank donors
