About the entry
Between May 2016 and July 2017, Queen's University celebrated its 175th anniversary, which coincided with Canada's 150th anniversary and Kingston's celebrations as Canada's first capital. Queen's University leveraged its anniversary through a series of special events that occurred between September 2016 and July 2017.
From the Judges' Report
For the 175 Anniversary of Queens University, they demonstrated a unifying, original way to engage the masses in event celebrations. The institution set a goal to break a world record for the largest human letter which included over 3,000 participants. This event generated positive media for the institution and the 175 Anniversary reaching hundreds of thousands of people online. They also created an interactive museum exhibit that engaged internal and external audiences of all ages. It is a challenge in the events industry to create unique and motivational events for thousands of attendees, but they found a way to do this successfully on a moderate budget. Well done!
