The NCC can be considered a model emerging fundraising program not only through meeting its targets for the University's first major fundraising campaign, but through the success of a team assembled solely for the term of the Campaign. All campaign staff were recruited into contract positions, with no guarantee of ongoing employment. As a result of the NCC's success, these staff members are now employed on a permanent basis.

Judges were extremely impressed by the amount of money raised due to the fact that this was the universities first campaign ever. A focus on community involvement and not just alumni distinguished this entry for the commission.
