Bjug Harstad’s Yukon Gold Rush is a game where the user experiences the hunt for gold in the Yukon as PLU’s founder, the Rev. Bjug Harstad. As part of our annual day of giving, the journey gave a unique experience to all constituents as they competed to get the highest score in a two-day period. Along the way, users learned more about Harstad, dug for gold, and tried to avoid moose, and had an easy way to give to the programs that matter the most to them. It uses a retro (pixel art) design and can be played in multiple settings and on multiple devices.

We loved this app! It's adorable, creative, different, fun—yet on brand. We can see that it would bring a lot of pride among alumni. The low-bit imaging added to the home-grown feel of the app. It really creates a good feeling. We were very impressed with the creativity on a low budget.
