This website is Boston University’s Annual Report for 2018, covering notable research, academic, and financial developments over the course of the fiscal year, including campaign progress. It corresponds with a printed publication. Boston University’s Annual Report is one of the highest-profile projects in the Marketing & Communications department, with the finished product destined for the eyes of university presidents, lawmakers, and educational thought leaders. Our Annual Report print publication offers more than a look at our latest financials and construction projects. We have redefined the idea of our Annual Report by telling the human stories of the University’s past year as they relate to a particular theme. This year, our focus is on our approach to interconnectivity at a larger-than-most scale.
From the Judges
This was a unanimous choice for the committee who found it a nice change of pace from the rest of the field, breaking out of the grid format so typical of digital presentation. This was a piece executed by a team with formidable talents who know every trick in the book. With such strong resources, the temptation can be to pull out all the stops but the judges were pleased to see a measured and thoughtful approach to all of the major design components. First, the strong content and messaging was impressive. Beautiful typography and layout created pages that invited the viewer to read. The piece was well-structured and organized, and featured user-friendly navigation. A great attention to visuals paired with meaningful photography rounded out the complete package.
