The Human Book Project
From the Nominator
The Human Book Project is a one-day, innovative event delivered jointly by the University of Glasgow's careers service and development & alumni teams. Run initially as a pilot in 2017, the event has now become an annual feature due to demand from alumni and students. It gives students unprecedented access to alumni experts from a range of creative destinations. Students were able to book 15-minute, one-to-one conversations to inspire and prepare for the workplace.
From the Judges
The branding and marketing of an alumni mentorship program as “human books” lends a distinction to the Human Book Project. The program was relatively small from an alumni engagement standpoint, but can be scalable and replicated in other venues. The number of future alumni (students) involved is high in comparison to the number of alumni. The participant reactions were highly positive, and the conversion of “human books” to donors demonstrates a level of success with the program strategy.
