The University of Nebraska–Lincoln recognized the need to develop a strong, comprehensive and cohesive brand strategy that everyone in the university—faculty, staff, students, alumni, athletics and other stakeholders—could identify with and leverage in distinct communication and marketing efforts. The university engaged in extensive audience research efforts to understand how key groups view the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and the best opportunities to claim a valuable position in the marketplace. Nebraska produced this single 30-second TV commercial to introduce its cohesive new brand during broadcasts of its athletic teams’ games.
From the Judges
This video is a standout from the more traditional college promotional videos. The pacing and soundtrack are strong, the visuals are creative, and the concept capitalizes on the university’s athletic reputation without going over the top. It’s attention-grabbing and empowering, and makes you want to be a part of the energy and excitement. Great job on showing the diversity of the student body in a mix of staged hero shots and live-action campus shots. Additional props for producing a high-quality video within a short production/post-production window.
