University of Memphis Career Services helps students transition from college to career. 40% of UofM students are first-generation and/or low income. Many work to provide for themselves and families and do not have disposable income to purchase appropriate attire required to participate in career fairs, attend job interviews and successfully secure internships and full-time employment.
From the Judges
The immediate impact on students was incredible. The Career Services office also did a masterful job in working with external groups to make a difference, which is difficult to do. The committee hoped to see more information on follow-up activities with the students who were supported by the program.
