Wellesley Magazine
From the Nominator
Wellesley Magazine, Wellesley College’s quarterly alumnae magazine, aims to connect alumnae to each other and to the college. The winter 2018 issue cover story, “Immigrant Stories,” explores how six alumnae immigrated to the U.S.—complex narratives of women touched by war, unrest, and economic hardship and how they have rebuilt their homes and identities. Also in that issue, an alumna ponders how to raise a son in the #MeToo era, and a photo of the campus in snow sparks a rumination on time and memory. The spring 2018 cover story, “The Generations of Ethos,” tells the story of the history of Wellesley’s black student organization, on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, through the eyes of its student leaders over the decades. In “Witness to the Survivors,” an alumna journalist who happened to be on the scene during the horrific Las Vegas shooting in October 2017 tells her story—and those of survivors she interviewed in the hours after the tragedy.
