The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association’s Alumni Park is a University of Wisconsin-Madison experiential destination, offering green space, lakefront access, storytelling exhibits, and engaging activities. Located where campus meets downtown, this welcoming urban park tells the story of alumni contributions to Wisconsin and the world. Woven through gardens and shade trees are 50 museum-quality exhibits honoring 123 alumni, plus iconic sculptures with a nod to spirited Badger traditions. A gift to the university from its graduates, the park illustrates the Wisconsin Idea—the university’s guiding principle that education has a positive impact beyond the classroom—as lived by alumni.
From the Judges
This project helped create a space on the University of Wisconsin's campus that will be a gathering space and a part of the campus for a very long time. Judges felt that this project was an exciting and innovative way of engaging individuals from across campus in its design. Moreover, the project and the end result creates opportunity for prospective students, current students, alumni and community to come together and have opportunities to engage in the history and unique parts of the history of the university. From concept to execution this project engaged a broad base of individuals from across disciplines in its development. On Wisconsin!
