The Brink is Boston University’s news website dedicated to research and scientific discoveries. The three stories we are submitting include a story of how two BU astronomers and an international collaboration took the first-ever image of a black hole, how photonics researchers are leveraging light and common hydrogen peroxide to treat deadly and tough-to-cure MRSA infections, and how engineering and medical collaborators plan to divert the unhealthy level of modern noise around us with a dinner-plate sized ring—called an acoustic metamaterial—that blocks sound but allows air. These stories were all published within April 2019, exemplifying the variety of content that The Brink publishes each month of the year (approximately 10 different stories per month).
