From the Judges
This welcoming magazine for the small Indian Springs School, produced by an in-house editor and a freelance designer, is distinctive for its clear and consistent design, in a restricted palette. It has a traditional feel, is uncrowded and easy to read. The typography is clean and unobtrusive, with simple burgundy running heads and a black line across the top of each spread, giving way to bolder styling for the main feature. All pages have plenty of space to breathe, and use the same burgundy for slim, modern sans serif titles and other headings, in a recognizable hierarchy. What stood out was the focus on people and a sense of inclusiveness—underlining the school’s commitment to transparency and authenticity. The photography, both natural and posed, is always engaging. The Class Spotlight spread is a great way to show a whole class responding to the statement "Indian Springs has given me the opportunity to.…" Altogether, it’s a very professional magazine, which shows how much it values its readership.
