Indigenous Chapter Call Campaign
From the Nominator
Over the last five years, Queen’s University has been on a path of reconciliation with our indigenous neighbors. As we work to rebuild and strengthen this important relationship, we are putting a stronger emphasis on building the indigenous community at Queen’s. Not only are we adding more academic offerings focused on indigenous languages, traditions, and teachings, we are also making a diligent effort to increase our indigenous student population. While we have increased the number of offers of acceptance to indigenous students, we have discovered an opportunity to leverage the power of our vibrant indigenous community to ensure that those students choose to accept those offers and pursue a Queen’s education.
From the Judges
What an innovative program, with demonstrable and admirable results...and all done at basically no cost aside from staff time! We loved the idea of an indigenous student campaign, and hope you continue this program. A volunteer-led calling campaign is perfect for a strapped budget. Clearly it was a well-thought out campaign with scripts and engaged volunteers. The concept of outreach to the indigenous population is an important and laudable one.
