Looking Good
From the Nominator
“Looking Good” is the culmination of a 28-month-long branding journey. It is designed to showcase the broad range of in-demand applied technology programs found at Pennsylvania College of Technology, to be a calling card for viewers who resonate with the common thread that runs through each one: learning to lead in your field of study and making an impact by doing. Our goals: Develop a piece that shows the energy and breadth of our programs, provides a glimpse at the scale of our labs and access to equipment, and lets students who are doers and achievers know there’s a place for them to grow in a major they’ll not only love, but own. Industry friends—the donors who support our students with equipment and scholarships, the employers that hire every grad we can produce, the legislative leaders who look to our alumni to fill the skills gap in their districts—often refer to us as best kept secret in higher education. With ample distribution, we expect this video to change perceptions: Help help those who may still see us in the guise of our mid-twentieth century community college roots see us anew, and help those who are hearing about us for the first time learn about what they’ve been missing.
From the Judges
We loved the modernity of this video. The movement from shot to shot was fast-paced, which is necessary to engage younger viewers (a target audience). We also felt that the message of "made by hand" is a good one, as students yearn for hands-on professions where they are doing things and making a difference vs. "cubicle professions." It looks like an exciting place to learn!
