From the Nominator
In September 2018, the investment was made in Sound Tracks podcast, to pilot it as an innovative solution to the challenge of reaching an international University of Glasgow community with meaningful alumni content. Since launching, the podcast has had 5,200+ downloads in 105 countries. It’s aims to bring sound advice from UofG graduates and to help listeners keep their careers on track. It’s a traditional alumni speaker event reinvented, repackaged, and re-energized. For the first time, long form alumni advice is having a global impact, downloadable from anywhere in the world, rather than squeezed into a lunch time on campus. Where in person events had reached on average 361 students a year, the podcast has directly benefited over 9,600 individuals. It cost just 0.3% of the average alumni volunteer event cost. Sound Tracks is a sound investment, on track to continue its growing impact as a strategic alumni volunteering programme.
From the Judges
This is a well thought-out program that reaches alumni where they are. This program provided an opportunity to engage high level alumni, and future major donors, that were never engaged. Sound Tracks stewards them towards real engagement, as well as provides real tangible experiences for students and other alumni listening to the podcasts. They were able to use a small budget to gain big results. Great resources for the participants. This can also be a great recruitment tool as they display the great work of the alumni. Impressive metrics!
