Perpetual Motion Photography from Dartmouth Alumni Magazine
From the Nominator
We made a leap of faith in hiring fine arts photographer Pelle Cass to work his multi-image magic on the athletic fields of Dartmouth to present a one-of-a-kind look at some athletes in action. Cass had never done a magazine assignment or anything journalistic before, and he embraced the assignment with glee, spending hours shooting and even more hours (roughly 40) creating the final results on his computer.
From the Judges
The judges were in awe of this concept and execution. We recognized the time and detail required to create these masterpieces. The concept was an original—none of us had ever seen anything like it—and creative way to show movement. The time it surely took not only to take the photographs but to edit each human hair within the photo deserved outstanding recognition. Super innovative.
