To fulfill the lifelong loyalty to Georgia Tech, students join the Student Alumni Association by donating $10—$5 goes to Georgia Tech’s Annual Fund and $5 goes to the Georgia Tech Student Foundation’s endowment, which is then allocated to student organizations. Each year, SAA recruits around 5000 students. SAA Kick-Off is our first event of the academic year, where we recruit about a third of our members. As a reoccurring event, SAA Kick Off’s intended outcomes are to signal to previous SAA members to renew their membership, recruit new SAA members, and solidify our standing as the largest student organization at Georgia Tech.
From the Judges
The judges were impressed by the execution of this event and the ability to draw a large audience. Particularly the judges liked the fact that branding of the event was changed each year as a method to remind members to renew. Additionally, we were excited by their commitment to not only gain new members, but educate about impact of gifts.
