UCSF.edu Redesign
From the Nominator
In April 2019, UCSF launched a redesign of its main UCSF.edu website to accompany a necessary back-end upgrade of its content management system. To optimize the online experience, we undertook a deep analysis of the university’s audiences to better serve their needs, deliver them content that resonates, and build user journeys that encourage interactivity with UCSF’s brand story. This complete reimagining and rebuild of the website resulted in dramatic improvements in user perception and increased traffic to our news content.
From the Judges
Website redesigns take a long time when done correctly, and we really want that time and effort to pay off. The University of California, San Francisco spent a lot of time on their content strategy plan, which led to a site that was very engaging one that we could not stop talking about it. Their thoughtful research and intentional decisions for user experience on the site design match beautifully with their goals. They knew their site was going to focus on getting you to the information you came for, so they integrated and highlighted the search function right on the page. The stories all end with recommended readings that draw you deeper into the page. Overall, the site is clean, and the visuals are engaging to see.
