Civil Engineering Center Dedication
From the Nominator
Cedarville University recently dedicated a new facility to house its rapidly growing Civil Engineering program. Right on theme, guests received laser-cut plywood invitations in the mail. This event gathered key donors and constituents for an unconventional steel-saw ribbon-cutting ceremony, student-guided demonstrations of various laboratory capabilities, and a luncheon complete with hard hat centerpieces and metal gear napkin rings. The new building’s main project lab is equipped with two massive garage doors, which allowed for a COVID-safe indoor/outdoor event space. Additionally, each guest received a commemorative branded steel I-beam.
From the Judges
The team behind this elevated what was quite a simple event with invention and imagination. A strongly themed event, with so many elements that made us smile. We were impressed by concrete outcomes in terms of the high Net Promoter score, as well as the efforts to which the team went to keep their guests safe.
