Heart on Horseback
From the Nominator
The Fresno State Brand Strategy and Marketing team aims to elevate the university brand by telling stories through visual photo essays that reflect the diverse student experiences at Fresno State. This photo essay showcases Annabelle Ortega, a first-year undergraduate who grew up in the small town of Winton, California. The story highlights a student's experience as a Jordan College ag student, taking classes on our 1,000-acre farm located on campus. The farm is a unique pride point for Fresno State, and is one of the main reasons why Ortega decided to attend the university, along with the campus's proximity to her hometown, and the college's animal science program. As a freshman, Ortega is combining her passion for horses with an academic emphasis in equine science. Our university photographer was able to document Ortega in her colt training class, and also captured her practicing her side-saddling skills near her hometown.
