Holiday Video
From the Nominator
In an unprecedented year, Texas Woman’s University sought to create a holiday greetings video that brought holiday warmth and well wishes to the community, while following COVID-19 safety guidelines. Highlighting faculty, staff, and students on our three campuses (Denton, Dallas, and Houston) was a priority. Playing off the infinite Zoom calls we all faced while working from home and the TikTok “passing objects trend,” TWU’s Office of Marketing & Communication developed a video that featured the university mascot, students, and employees, as well as TWU Chancellor Carine Feyten and her husband, Chad, playfully passing holiday lights to each other in various scenarios. As a final touch, the mascot Oakley plugs in the lights, which triggers the lighting of one of the tall towers on the university’s Denton campus.
This video was used on the university’s home page banner, shared in various holiday greetings with donors, alumni, employees, and students, posted on social media, and broadcast during our livestreamed commencement events. Strategically, it was hosted on our YouTube channel, which was being refreshed, resulting in a 15% increase in subscribers to our channel.
As a coordinated piece, the chancellor’s annual holiday card showcased a similar theme with holiday lights and a staged Zoom call. The project symbolized how TWU’s community has stayed connected despite spending most of the year apart due to the pandemic.
From the Judges
The collaboration between multiples units, the 15% increase in subscribers, and the creativity amid a low budget impressed us.
