This is the inaugural, Summer 2020 issue of Rutgers Nursing magazine—an annual, multimedia publication intended to inform, engage, and excite readers about the people, programs, and activities of one of the largest, most comprehensive nursing education programs in the United States.
Target audiences for the magazine include alumni; current and prospective students and faculty; staff; and nursing leaders at local, state, and national levels. The magazine originally was intended for a print run of close to 20,000, to be distributed in April. However, when COVID-19 hit, we halted publication for a time, and then pivoted to make this an online publication. We also decided to include a major focus on “Nursing in the Time of COVID.” Elements include the pdf, feature story web-pages (HTML), and video.
From the Judges
The overall design of this piece is clean and polished, and the web version reflects a similar clean aesthetic. Photography is strong, and the feature articles well-written. Table of contents is beautiful, and the fast facts are presented in a clear and visually appealing way.
