Virtual CBT Black and Latino Alumni Reunion
From the Nominator
The triennial Coming Back Together (CBT) Black and Latino Alumni Reunion at Syracuse University has been a treasured tradition since the 1980s. Due to the pandemic, CBT went digital for the first time ever in 2020. Typically an on-campus, in-person four-day weekend consisting of several targeted events and activities, CBT was transformed to a one-day digital extravaganza, featuring live daytime sessions (tributes, panel discussions, and roundtables), pre-recorded university updates, a digital telethon fundraiser, and an afterparty. Timely conversations based upon the challenges of an unprecedented year in politics, COVID-19, and social justice were especially appealing to alumni of color. In celebration of Syracuse's sesquicentennial, our theme for the reunion was “150 Years of Black and Latino Excellence.” All donations benefitted the Our Time Has Come Scholarship program for underrepresented students at SU.
