In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a comprehensive strategy was developed for hosting FIU’s fall 2020 Commencement, featuring a virtual ceremony and multiple engagement opportunities, leading up to the date of graduation that provided a celebratory experience for university graduates. Florida International University’s Commencement Team worked diligently to find ways to create a virtual commencement experience. They partnered with different departments across the university that included the Social Media team and the Media Technology Services department. They also partnered with external vendors such as StageClip and Marching Order to achieve the goal.

FIU did an excellent job engaging graduates, with a successful social media plan (use of TikTok and other newer social methods to reach their audience and engage them). We were impressed with the tone, which resonated with students, and the multiples way that they engaged their graduates and helped to celebrate their success.
