Williams Magazine Fall 2020: Where Are We Now?
From the Nominator
The fall 2020 Williams Magazine is a special issue focused on two major forces shaping our campus and our world: a pandemic that has upended nearly every aspect of daily life, exacerbating systemic, structural inequalities; and the ongoing horrors of racism and brutality against Black Americans. At a time when our Williams community was reeling and raw, we asked 36 contributors—exponentially more than any previous issue—to help make sense of the thematic question: “Where we are now?” Their poems, essays, stories, interviews, photographs, and illustrations fill the pages of the magazine, and we are grateful to them for entrusting their words, images, and ideas to our care.
From the Judges
An entry that was often the exception rather than the rule in this category: It really did deliver on the idea of being a special edition devoted to a single topic. Beautiful, cohesive layout. Impactful stories. The special issue is well-explained and meaningful.
