The Almighty Cod
From the Nominator
Universities seek to not only solve the problems of today, but also discover what we can learn from the distant past. This article by Liam Farrell delved into a project with a unique premise—creating a deeper record of the Atlantic cod from centuries-old bones, which may have unique applications to how we combat climate change. Describing the subject matter required a blend of archival research and interviews with professors and fishermen to talk about the importance of an often overlooked natural species.
