"In 2017, The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) was established at The Episcopal Academy. It provides teachers with personalized support and professional development opportunities. The goal is to support teachers, spark collaboration, and inspire innovation in the classroom. The center is funded by annual giving and other philanthropic support.  

In January 2020, the CTL team began meeting with the admin team, division directors, and other school leaders to prepare for a "just in case" scenario as the COVID-19 pandemic was starting to spread. By February, the center was offering teacher training on how to teach remotely and played an important role in getting the faculty up to speed on Zoom, iPads, and other virtual teaching necessities.  

The Center for Teaching and Learning at EA video highlights the crucial role that the CTL played during pandemic teaching on and off-campus. Through powerful teacher interviews, viewers saw firsthand the impact of CTL and how it supported student learning. The piece was used to steward donors, as well as to show parents and alumni how it was possible to have more than 180 days of in-person school when many area schools were remote. As people marveled at how EA was in person, this video helped explain how it was possible.  

The video was shot on an iPhone as the school year started and edited in-house on Final Cut Pro."
