"Gulliver is a relatively new nonprofit organization. Although technically the school transitioned from for-profit to nonprofit in 2000, it has only operated as a nonprofit functionally for the past five years. Philanthropy is new to Gulliver.
We are located in the heart of South Florida and our constituency is global, with widely diverse perspectives on fundraising. One of our goals with "Opportunities for Impact" was to increase awareness of both the importance and role of philanthropy in the life of the school. The purpose of this piece was to appeal to donors to direct their gifts to an area of school life that is meaningful to them, thereby increasing their understanding of the impact of philanthropy. The piece was sent via email with a note signed by board leadership and a hard copy was mailed to homes.
The piece yielded $72,300 in annual fund contributions and fueled may more important conversations to further our constituents' understanding of the impact of annual giving on school operations."
