"After meeting and successfully dealing with the challenges COVID-19 presented the school, the community, and the world of healthcare, Boston University’s School of Public Health (BUSPH) aimed to create a vibrant, informative publication that would imbue optimism, spirit, and strength in its audience. The school’s annual publication, SPH This Year 2021, skillfully and colorfully brings the past, present, and future to life for its readers, outlining the school’s 45-year history, addressing and discussing the numerous current hot-button issues facing healthcare, and showcasing the future of the BUSPH community and its commitment to public health.
Contracted illustrator Joe Magee’s striking, upbeat imagery infuses enormous positivity into difficult subjects, topics, and situations. Bold, bright colors throughout the illustrations energize the publication with strong impressions of indomitable spirit and unflagging hope for the future. Images representing the specialized practice and expertise of 17 individual faculty members, staff, students, and alumni effectively bring to life the vital, meaningful, and groundbreaking work happening every day in the BUSPH community."
