"In the redesign launched in 2020, Tufts Magazine was reimagined and expanded to elevate it as the print vehicle serving the *entire* alumni community, including those who attended the graduate and professional schools. Previously, the primary audience for the magazine was undergraduate alumni.
The refreshed magazine emphasizes bold design, stunning photography, and engaging stories from all of Tufts’ schools to showcase how the four campuses (including all its schools) comprise ONE vibrant university. The renewed emphasis on a university-wide approach followed a decision to stop publishing separate magazines for alumni of each of Tufts’ graduate schools. While that pivot was challenging, it provided an opportunity for a entirely new vision for Tufts Magazine and the opportunity to leverage an entire university's worth of powerful storytelling."
From the Judges
Since the magazine was already very high quality and strong, it was difficult to see a big improvement. However, the visual style is much better, including the cover designs, and the variable printing to deliver targeted content to alumni was clever. The photography and illustration were strong, and the stories were told effectively with creative headlines. A highly engaging magazine.
